Later Jewish Tradition

According to the Rabbis, the Bread of the Presence would be placed on a golden table (such as that described in Lev 24:6) and elevated for pilgrims to see:

They used to lift it up and exhibit the Bread of the Presence on it to those who came up for the festivals, saying to them, “Behold, God’s love for you!” (Babylonian Talmud, Menahoth 29a)
